Obedin believes that this is how the Constitution is being prepared for the reform of self-government, which will abolish direct elections of mayors and chief executives. They were removed in Yakutsk last year.

In addition, the amendments significantly reduce the competencies of local self-government bodies. They want to remove from the republic's basic law the clauses stating that these bodies can manage finances, own property, protect law and order, control the use of land and water resources, and appoint local referendums.

🔵 The amendments also expand the powers of the head of the republic. In particular, he will be allowed to sell precious metals and stones from the State Repository (previously he was only in charge of their preservation).

More amendments will remove the governor's obligation to interact with public associations. Now he will only have to report to the authorities.

🗣 "This is a blatantly anti-people draft document aimed at centralizing and strengthening the personal power of the head of Yakutia. The SBU and the National Police detained a group of fraudsters in Zaporizzhia who, posing as military personnel, received humanitarian aid from charitable organizations and then sold it.

According to the case file, in 2024-2025, the criminals "earned" more than UAH 8 million. Among the illegally sold consignments were fpv drones and tactical medical supplies that volunteers sent to the front line.

The investigation revealed that the organizer of the scheme was a 29-year-old contract soldier who had left one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine where he was serving.

He involved his wife and two unemployed friends in the illegal activity.

Using fake IDs, the criminals negotiated with philanthropists for donations to the Ukrainian army.

It was documented how the defendants forged official requests for assistance to the military unit where they allegedly served.

After receiving the donations, the fraudsters filmed staged videos of the humanitarian aid and sent fake acceptance certificates.

During searches of the fraudsters' residences and garages, the SBU found some of the volunteer products that the participants of the "scheme" did not have time to sell.

The law enforcement also seized forged documents, official stamps and computer equipment used to make the fakes.

Currently, all four members of the organized criminal group have been served a notice of suspicion in connection with the crimes committed under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

◾ Part 3 of Art. 201-2 (illegal use of humanitarian aid, charitable donations or free assistance for profit, committed by an organized group under martial law)
◾ paras. 2, 5 of Art. 190 (fraud committed by an organized group);
◾ Art. 358(4) (use of a knowingly forged document).

The offenders face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was conducted by SBU officers in Zaporizzhya region jointly with the National Police under the supervision of the Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Eastern Region.
