He was born in Cherkasy region, and later his family moved to Poltava region. At a vocational school, he learned several working professions. In 2000-2002, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After returning home, he worked at a private enterprise as a drilling rig operator. And since 2011, he has been working as a refractory worker at the Poltava Mining and Processing Plant.

In April 2024, Roman joined the army: he served as a gunner in a mechanized battalion (41st Mechanized Brigade).

Unfortunately, on July 13, 2024, near the village of New York, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region, Roman Vernyhora died... He is survived by his brother, wife and three sons.
