The day after the Russian invaders began their full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Taras returned from abroad and immediately went to the military registration and enlistment office. He really wanted to serve in the Azov Regiment, so he passed the standards and was enlisted as a platoon commander of the 12th Special Forces Brigade of the Azov National Guard.

He fought in different areas. In the fall of 2023, he was wounded and returned to service after treatment.

Unfortunately, on September 4, 2024, Junior Sergeant Taras Lazarchuk was killed while performing a combat mission near Toretsk, Donetsk region.
