The Security Service of Ukraine has developed and is implementing a unique methodology for using unmanned technologies to effectively destroy the enemy and its equipment on the battlefield, military facilities in the deep rear of Russia, and to counter reconnaissance drones.

This was stated by the SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk at the forum "Ukraine. Year 2025" forum.

"The SBU successfully uses unmanned technologies - we work at sea, on the front line and beyond it in the enemy's rear. At one time, the President of Ukraine set us a task, and we developed an appropriate methodology and tactics for the use of unmanned aerial systems. And we have professional operators and appropriate means for each distance and each distance," said Vasyl Malyuk.

In particular, on the combat line, the distances for drone operations are distributed as follows: up to 20 km, 20 to 40 km, 40 to 80 km, 80 and 120 km. The SBU uses long-range drones to hit military targets at a distance of more than 120 kilometers.

So far, in the depths of Russian territory, the SBU, together with its colleagues from the Defense Forces, has hit 48 ammunition depots, weapons arsenals, airfields with military aircraft, etc. A separate area is the disruption of the oil production and refining industries, which directly fund the Russian Defense Ministry to continue the war in Ukraine. This fact distinguishes between Ukrainian attacks on enemy refineries that work for the Russian military-industrial complex and Russian missile strikes on Ukraine's energy sector, which are acts of genocide against the civilian population.

According to Vasyl Malyuk, as a result of drone strikes, Russian oil refineries and production companies have suffered multibillion-dollar losses, including lost profits.

The SBU Head also said that the special service has found effective countermeasures to Russian reconnaissance drones - Zala, Supercam, Orlan, Lancet. So now Russian drones worth $100,000 each can destroy Ukrainian FPVs. US dollars each can destroy Ukrainian FPV drones that cost 700 US dollars.

"There were days when we destroyed more than 20 reconnaissance drones per day in the Kursk sector. That is, where the enemy has "great know-how", we simply find the key to solving these issues," noted Vasyl Malyuk.

At the same time, Vasyl Malyuk said that last year the Defense Forces prevented the resumption of Russian dominance in the Black Sea. In particular, the SBU has improved and transformed its maritime drones into multi-purpose platforms capable of carrying machine guns, FPV drones and other equipment, as well as remote mining.

"I'll give you a live example: one of the most recent missions, when we hit a Russian barge transporting military equipment in the Kerch Bay. For two-thirds of the 700-kilometer journey, we were in constant fire contact with enemy aircraft. But they could not come close to us to destroy us because our systems, including artificial intelligence, were working," said Vasyl Malyuk.

In addition to its work at the front, the SBU is also fighting back against the internal enemy and preventing reconnaissance and sabotage activities of Russian special services.

In total, over the past three years, the special service has exposed 102 agent networks and opened more than 3,000 criminal proceedings for high treason.

"The operational situation is generally under control, but everything depends on our unity. We must realize that this is a very crucial time. And right now we have to accumulate all the experience and hold out in the coming weeks and months, and show the appropriate result," the SBU Head summarized.
