Today, along with others, we remember the Ukrainian Hero Vitaliy Benchak (call sign "Tur") from Zakarpattia region.

He graduated with honors from the Mukachevo Institute of Technology (now a state university). Vitaliy was a member of the Transcarpathian branch of the International Nationalist Congress almost from the very beginning of the organization's foundation, a participant in the Gurbi-Antonivtsi war game and the Povstanska Vatra and Heroes' Paths camps. He was a deputy of the Tyachiv District Council of the sixth convocation, a member of the NGO "Unity", and a volunteer.

With the beginning of the Russian aggression in 2014, Vitaliy stood up to defend our country and fought in Donbas for two years. On the first day of the full-scale war, he became a volunteer with the Carpathian Sich. Later, he became a soldier of the 49th separate rifle battalion "Carpathian Sich" in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He participated in battles for Kyiv, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.

Unfortunately, on October 1, 2022, during a combat mission near the village of Terny, Donetsk region, Vitalii Benchak was fatally wounded by an enemy air strike. The defender was 41 years old...
