Defense

The APC has an all-welded steel armored structure that provides the crew with protection from small arms fire and shell fragments. The armor thickness in the frontal projection reaches 10 mm. The vehicle has bulletproof glass, which is additionally protected by an armored curtain.

Armament

The APC is equipped with a 7.62-mm or 12.7-mm machine gun mounted on a rotating platform on the command hatch. There are also embrasures for firing on the sides of the landing compartment and on the door in the stern. The APCs handed over to Ukraine have an open turret protected by armor plates with a 12.7 mm machine gun.

Mobility

The vehicle is equipped with a Valmet 611 DSBJA engine (Valmet 612 DWI in the HA-185 version), which has a power of 236 hp. The maximum speed of the 15-ton machine on the highway is 100 km/h. The range is up to 800 km. The APC has amphibious capabilities. Movement afloat at a speed of up to 9 km/h is carried out by two propellers installed in the stern of the hull. The APC crew consists of a driver and a commander. The vehicle's landing compartment can accommodate 10 soldiers in full gear.
