🕵️ The Ukrainian government's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-UA) has detected and investigated the distribution of emails using compromised accounts with the subject line "bills/payments" by the hacker group UAC-0006 with a ZIP-archive attachment.

The mentioned ZIP-archive is a polyglot file containing a decoy document and a JavaScript file that, using PowerShell, will download and run an executable file. The latter, in turn, will launch the SmokeLoader malware.

The dates of domain name registration and file compilation indicate that the campaign was initiated in April 2023.

CERT-UA notes that the activity of the UAC-0006 group is financially motivated and was carried out from 2013 to July 2021. The new activity is a kind of "return" of the group. A typical malicious intent is to infect accountants' computers (which are used to support financial activities, such as access to remote banking systems), steal authentication data (login, password, key/certificate) and create unauthorized payments (in some cases using an HVNC bot, directly from the affected computer).

Given that the aforementioned group typically uses JavaScript loaders at the stage of initial infection, it is possible to temporarily minimize the likelihood of infection by blocking the launch of wscript.exe (Windows Script Host) on the computer.

Типовий зловмисний задум полягає в ураженні ЕОМ бухгалтерів (за допомогою яких здійснюється забезпечення фінансової діяльності, наприклад, доступ до систем дистанційного банківського обслуговування), викраденні автентифікаційних даних (логін, пароль, ключ / сертифікат) та створенні несанкціонованих платежів (у деяких випадках з використанням HVNC-боту, безпосередньо з ураженої ЕОМ).

Враховуючи, що згаданою групою на етапі первинного ураження типово використовуються JavaScript-завантажувачі, тимчасово мінімізувати вірогідність ураження можливо шляхом блокування запуску wscript.exe (Windows Script Host) на ЕОМ.

«Їхнє завдання – це спроба ускладнення або зриву подальших наступальних дій української армії щодо визволення наших територій. Тобто цілями є – логістика, шляхи постачання, техніка, жива сила», – наголосив представник розвідки.

Втім, за його словами, росія має застарілі дані, брак розвідданих, і зважаючи на наявність несучасного та не високоточного озброєння, ці удари фактично йдуть по цивільних об'єктах і страждають не військові, а мирні громадяни.

Эксперт также спрогнозировал, что Пригожин может договориться и, вместо Бахмута на 9 мая, преподнести путину "подарок" от командующего Восточной группировкой войск Александра Сырского: удар по незачищенным флангам. 

"В конце концов, сейчас погода такая, что могут двигаться части и фланги у него реально под ударом", - указал Свитан.
