An important change is that the army has gained an internal understanding of why it is there and what tasks it has to perform. Before that, most of the military did not see themselves in war. Now everyone understands what they have to do.

There is a lot of work to be done - to create a sergeant's backbone in the army, to build a command and control system. It will still not be possible to copy the model of a Western country, but borrowing experience and adapting it to our realities is what we have to do today. And move towards a high-tech army that will use all modern warfare tools for the main purpose of preserving personnel.

На момент офіційного початку «АТО» дев’ять років тому, ми вже брали участь в бойових діях на Сході в складі «чорних чоловічків». З того часу відбулось багато змін.

Порівнюючи з 14м, армія стала зовсім іншою. Тоді вона не була готова ні до чого, абсолютно по всіх аспектах. Саме завдяки добровольцям вдалось виграти час. Та сьогодні армія - це структура, на яку дійсно може спиратись країна.

Важлива зміна - в армію прийшло внутрішнє розуміння, навіщо там знаходитись і які задачі виконувати. До цього більшість військових не бачили себе у війні. Зараз кожен розуміє, що він має робити.

Попереду багато роботи - у створенні сержантського хребта в армії, в побудові системи управління військами. Скопіювати модель якоїсь західної країни все одно не вийде, а ось запозичити досвід та адаптувати під свої реалії - це те, чим маємо сьогодні займатись. І крокувати до високотехнологічного війська, де будуть використовуватись всі сучасні інструменти війни для основної мети - збереження особового складу.
