SBU evidence helped to sentence another agent of Russian military intelligence (better known as GRU) to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. He was a member of an enemy combat task force that blew up a car with a Ukrainian soldier in Kharkiv in the summer of 2024.

The Ukrainian defender was seriously injured in the explosion.

The SBU CI detained all four members of the enemy cell while they were preparing a new terrorist attack in a frontline city. Three of them have already been sentenced to real terms in June this year.

SBU materials helped to convict their accomplice. He was a 41-year-old unemployed Kharkiv resident, recruited by the occupiers through his old friend, a Russian special forces fighter.

All four agents acted together and had one common supervisor from Russian military intelligence. On his instructions, members of the enemy group followed the Ukrainian soldier's vehicle and then planted an improvised explosive device under it.

After the assassination attempt, the agents made another explosive, which they tried to hide in a pre-arranged cache for future terrorist attacks.

At the same time, they were tasked with tracking and derailing a Defense Forces freight train, but the SBU thwarted the enemy's plans.

Based on the evidence collected by SBU investigators, the panel of judges found the 4th member of the group guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

According to the investigation, the officials misappropriated budget funds allocated for the purchase of server hardware and software for the needs of the Ministry of Justice. This hardware and software complex was supposed to ensure the modernization of the department's electronic systems.

According to the investigation, in 2021, the defendants initiated a contract with an affiliated private company to purchase new servers and software for the Ministry of Justice for UAH 19 million.

At the same time, the specified purchase price was several times higher than the average market prices for these types of goods and services.

Thus, more than half of the amount transferred from the budget to the contractors' accounts was stolen by the organizers of the scheme.

The law enforcement initiated commodity and forensic economic examinations of the purchased server equipment and software confirmed the facts of illegal activity.

Based on the evidence obtained, the former State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, the head and deputy heads of departmental departments were served a notice of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (embezzlement or misappropriation of property through abuse of office, committed on a large scale).

In addition, three executives of the affiliated private company with which the relevant contract was concluded were served suspicion notices under the same article.

Investigative actions are ongoing to bring to justice all participants in the scheme. The offenders face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Under such conditions, consumers' influence on decision-making is minimal, and the transparency of the process is questionable.

Representatives of foreign investors and industry associations have already warned that excessive electricity tariffs will lead to plant shutdowns. This means laying off workers. These people are left with no choice but to go to the border in the conditions of war.

On July 25, 2025, the NKREKU raised by 1.6 times the ceiling prices on the electricity market from 17:00 to 23:00.

On July 28, 2025, the official website of the NKREKU published draft resolutions on changes in tariffs for electricity distribution services, i.e. tariffs of oblenergos.
