The SBU and the National Police in Zaporizzhya region eliminated a large-scale scheme of mobilization evasion. The suspects sold fictitious medical certificates about the alleged disability of their relatives to conscripts to obtain a deferral from the draft.

According to the case, the scheme was organized by a local lawyer together with her husband, brother and his wife, who were also lawyers.

During the search, the officers seized UAH 4.7 million in the hryvnia equivalent from the suspects and their accomplices. The cash found included 641 thousand Russian rubles.

The criminals worked in the same office, and to implement the scheme, they engaged their friends, doctors who unreasonably assigned disability groups to relatives of the evaders for money.

Then they would submit the finished forgery to local authorities. Personal connections were used there, with the help of which the criminals received fictitious conclusions about the need to supervise fake persons with disabilities.

After obtaining all the "signatures", the defendants sold the entire package of fake documents to the evaders for USD 5.5 thousand per client.

Law enforcement officers documented the scheme and detained the organizer-lawyer.

She has been served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit for oneself or a third party for influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform the functions of the state or local self-government, combined with extortion of such benefit).

Investigative actions are underway to serve all participants in the fraud suspicion notices. The offenders face up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
