Petro went through many hot spots: he was a participant in the heroic defense of Luhansk airport, took part in the battles for the village of Heorhiivka and the town of Lutuhyne.

Together with his wife, he raised two daughters. Everyone who knew Petro says that he was a caring father, a loving husband, an exemplary family man, a kind, sociable and sincere person. He read a lot, even at the front.

On the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion, he voluntarily joined the TCC. He served in the 100th Territorial Defense Brigade (later it was reorganized into a mechanized brigade). He was retrained from an assault pilot to a combat medic because he had the appropriate education.

For two and a half years, Petro saved the lives of his comrades. In the last battle, being wounded, he fulfilled his mission to the end - evacuating the guys from the battlefield. Sergeant Petro Kanonik, 34, died on August 9, 2024, near the city of Toretsk, Donetsk region...
