Yesterday, law enforcers searched and interrogated 11 employees of the publishing house over the publication of literature mentioning homosexuality. Eight of them were released as witnesses.

The books involved in the case were published several years ago by independent non-fiction publishers Individuum and Popcorn Books. These brands were acquired by the EXMO publishing group after the war began.

According to First Department, the law enforcers initiated the case because of the books "Summer in a Pioneer Tie" by Elena Malisova and Katerina Silvanova and "Call Me by Your Name" by Andre Asiman, works by Mikita Franko and dozens of other literary works.

The case itself was initiated by the Main Department for Economic Security of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"Novaya Gazeta" with reference to EXMO's partner newsletter writes that the general director of the publishing house asked "all interested organizations" to "dispose of on the spot" or return copies of 50 books, including "Summer in a Pioneer Tie" and "What the Swallow is Silent About" by Silvanova and Malisova, as well as "The One and Only" by Julia Veresk.

Court announces sentences for defendants in the case of fatal accident with businessman Yaroslavsky's motorcade

The accident occurred on February 9, 2022, on the Kharkiv-Kyiv-Dovzhanskyi highway. Two of the defendants in the case were sentenced to three years of suspended sentence for attempting to conceal the circumstances of the accident that led to the death of a pedestrian.

Since more than three years had passed between the accident and the verdict in the case, the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution had expired. Therefore, the driver was acquitted of the charge of endangering the public.
