Later, he was sent to officer training and entered the National Aviation University, where he studied part-time in Law Enforcement. During the Bakhmut campaign, he commanded a platoon in the 1st company of the anti-tank battalion of the 3rd Brigade.

Unfortunately, on June 19, 2023, Yaroslav Kholmohorov was killed while performing a combat mission in the south of Bakhmut. He is survived by his wife and two children.
