SBU completes investigation into grenade attack during village council meeting in Zakarpattia region

The Security Service of Ukraine has completed the investigation and submitted to the court an indictment against a deputy of a village council in Zakarpattia, who committed a terrorist attack in a government building. The official faces life imprisonment.

As a reminder, on December 15, 2023, he blew up three RGD-5 and F-1 fragmentation grenades in the session hall of the Keretsky village council.

As a result of the explosions, 26 citizens, including the terrorist deputy, sustained injuries of varying severity. Two of the wounded later died.

According to the investigation, on that day, the suspect tried to influence the decision-making on personnel and budgetary issues made by the community leadership.

However, having failed to achieve the "desired" result, he briefly left the session hall to put explosive ammunition on alert.

Upon returning, the offender took them out of his jacket pockets and threw them one by one on the floor of the room, where almost the entire deputy corps of the village council was present.

Based on the collected evidence, SBU investigators sent to the court a charge against the bomber under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

The offender is in custody.

Служба безпеки завершила розслідування і передала до суду обвинувальний акт щодо депутата сільської ради на Закарпатті, який вчинив теракт у будівлі держустанови. Посадовцю загрожує довічне ув’язнення.

Нагадаємо, що 15 грудня 2023 року він підірвав у сесійній залі Керецьківської сільради три бойові осколкові гранати РГД-5 та Ф-1.

Унаслідок вибухів 26 громадян включно з депутатом-терористом отримали тілесні ушкодження різних ступенів тяжкості. Двоє поранених – згодом померли.

За даними слідства, у той день фігурант намагався вплинути на ухвалення рішень із кадрових та бюджетних питань, які приймало керівництво громади.

Однак, не досягнувши «бажаного» результату, він ненадовго залишив приміщення сесійної зали, щоб привести вибухові боєприпаси в бойову готовність.

Повернувшись назад, зловмисник дістав їх з кишень куртки та почергово кинув на підлогу приміщення, де перебував майже повний склад депутатського корпусу сільради.

На підставі зібраних доказів слідчі Служби безпеки скерували до суду обвинувачення на підривника за двома статтями Кримінального кодексу України:
▪️⁠ ⁠ч. 3 ст. 258 (терористичний акт, що призвів до загибелі людей);
▪️ ⁠ч. 1 ст. 263 (носіння, зберігання, придбання вибухових пристроїв без передбаченого законом дозволу).

Зловмисник перебуває під вартою.

Досудове розслідування проводили співробітники СБУ в Закарпатській області за процесуального керівництва обласної прокуратури.

This problematic issue was raised at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine in August 2023. And today, Kherson region farmers were the first to receive the necessary modular grain storage facilities.

Thanks to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the company has handed over almost a hundred modular grain silos to farmers in Kherson and Beryslav districts.

The purchase of seeds, fertilizers, materials for processing and protecting crops, provision of agricultural machinery and grain storage facilities are the challenges facing the region's farmers today. We, for our part, are ready to provide the necessary support.
