The head of the anesthesiology department categorically refused to cooperate with the occupation authorities.

During the occupation of Kherson, the medical staff of the department also provided assistance to wounded Ukrainian soldiers.

"These were the wounded guys from the Lilac Park. Of course, their stay in the medical facility was risky for us, but we managed to hide them, we changed their diagnoses, because a gunshot wound would immediately raise questions," recalls Andriy Sys.

The problem with medicines was solved thanks to the stocks of medicines left over from the covid period.

"The Russian military did not let the aid from Ukraine through, but they did not bring their own medicines," the doctor says.

The symbols in the hospital corridors and in the resident's room were not removed even during the occupation. It was a matter of principle.

Despite the danger, Andriy Sys is not going to leave for another city, because the people of Kherson need his help on a daily basis.

Співпрацювати з окупаційною владою завідувач відділення анестезіології категорично відмовився.

У відділенні, під час окупації Херсона, медперсонал надавав допомогу і пораненим українським військовим.

"Це були поранені хлопці з Бузкового парку. Звісно, їх перебування у медзакладі було ризикованим для нас, але нам вдавалося їх переховувати, ми змінювали їх діагнози, бо вогневе поранення, одразу б викликало запитання", — згадує Андрій Сис.

Проблему з ліками вдалося вирішити, завдяки запасам медпрепаратів, які залишилися після ковідного періоду.

«Російські військові не пропускали допомогу від України, а своїх медикаментів вони не привозили», — розповідає лікар.

Символіку у коридорах лікарні та в ординаторській не знімали навіть під час окупації. Це було принципово.

Попри небезпеку, виїжджати до іншого міста Андрій Сис не збирається, бо херсонці потребують його щоденної допомоги.

Усі діти, що внаслідок теракту залишилися без батьків, зараз виховуються в сім'ях родичів та близьких. Щодо більшості дітей уже оформлено опікунство.
