Sergeant Viktor Osovyk, call sign Bear, died on July 16, 2022, from a wound in a hospital in Dnipro. Four days earlier, he was seriously wounded in the neck near Bakhmut, Donetsk region, while returning from a combat mission. After walking almost 3 kilometers, he lost a lot of blood. On the way to the hospital he fell into a coma. In June, the soldier turned 45 years old.
Viktor was born in the village of Ivankiv, Chernihiv region. In 1995, he completed his military service. Since 1998, he lived in the village of Korop in his native region. He started his career as a security guard at Prune Corporation. In 2001-2008, he worked as an electrician of linear structures at the Telecommunications Center of Ukrtelecom OJSC. In 2008, he started blacksmithing at Gazbudservice LLC. Since 2011, he has been working as a bricklayer and a roofer in the Kyiv region.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Viktor joined the TRO. In early April, he volunteered to join the ranks of the territorial recruitment center in a security company. The following month he was sent to Donetsk region. There, he joined the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi and was appointed a sanitary instructor. He participated in the battles for Pokrovsk, Bakhmut and Lysychansk.
"Viktor was a great man, and also very kind. He was calm, balanced and always smiling. We often traveled with him, I felt calm and confident around him, and most importantly, we loved each other very much," said Natalia Vanikhina, the deceased's wife.
The defender was buried at St. Michael's Cemetery in the village of Korop in Chernihiv region.
Viktor is survived by his mother, wife, and two children from his first marriage.

Наступного місяця був направлений на Донеччину. Там поповнив лави 58-ої окремої мотопіхотної бригади імені гетьмана Івана Виговського, обійняв посаду санітарного інструктора. Брав участь у боях за Покровськ, Бахмут і Лисичанськ.
«Віктор був великою людиною, а ще – дуже добрим. Він був спокійний, врівноважений і завжди усміхнений. Ми часто з ним подорожували, поряд з ним я почувалася спокійно та впевнено, а головне – ми дуже любили одне одного», – розповіла дружина загиблого Наталія Ваніхіна.
Поховали захисника на Михайлівському кладовищі у селищі Короп на Чернігівщині.
У Віктора залишилися мама, дружина, двоє дітей від першого шлюбу.
