The SBU systematically exposes Russian occupants who committed war crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine.

It was Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Zharkikh, commander of the 8th separate artillery regiment of the 22nd Army Corps of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.

On December 24, 2022, the occupier ordered a fire attack on the central part of Kherson from BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers based on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

Then the Nazis hit residential buildings, shops, a hospital and a humanitarian aid distribution point in the central part of the regional center.

The enemy shelling killed 11 civilians and injured 64 others. Most of the victims were women and the elderly.

Shortly afterward, Zharkikh was invited to the Kremlin, where he was recognized for his terror against the civilian population of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the war criminal took an active part in the seizure of Crimea in 2014. Subsequently, his regiment began to be deployed on the temporarily occupied territory of the Ukrainian peninsula.

After the start of the full-scale invasion, the units subordinate to the defendant were involved in the southern front.

Based on the collected evidence, the SBU investigators served the offender a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Art. 28 and Part 2 Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war).

Comprehensive measures are being taken to bring him to justice for crimes against our state.

The investigation was conducted by the SBU Office in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.

За даними слідства, воєнний злочинець ще у 2014 році брав активну участь у захоплені Криму. Згодом його полк почав дислокуватись на тимчасово окупованій території українського півострова.

Після початку повномасштабного вторгнення підпорядковані фігуранту підрозділи були задіяні на південному фронті.

На підставі зібраних доказів слідчі Служби безпеки повідомили зловмиснику про підозру за ч. 2 ст. 28 та ч. 2 ст. 438 Кримінального кодексу України (порушення законів та звичаїв війни).

Тривають комплексні заходи для його притягнення до відповідальності за злочини проти нашої держави.
