Among them are two officers of the 16th separate Special Forces Brigade of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (better known as GRU).

Two more are mercenaries of a Russian private military company.

In early September this year they abducted three residents of Borova village who participated in the ATO.

The occupants kept the abducted men tied up in an earthen pit with bags over their heads.

The victims were subjected to brutal torture and threatened with death.

Thus, the invaders conducted interrogations and tried to "beat out" information about other Ukrainian patriots.

Based on the collected evidence, the court found the defendants guilty under Part 2 of Art. 28 and Part 1 of Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation was conducted by the SBU Kharkiv Region investigators under the procedural supervision of the Kharkiv Region Prosecutor's Office.

After the liberation of the village, the criminal planned to flee to the aggressor country. However, the SBU officers timely established his location and detained him.

The SBU investigators served the offender a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Art. 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The court imposed on him custody as a measure of restraint.

The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the offense and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The operation was conducted by the SBU officers in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.
