This decision was made by the Desnyanskiy District Court of Chernihiv. The case of Mikhail Kulikov, a senior sergeant with the Russian Federal Security Service, was found guilty under part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal Code. 1 Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of laws and customs of war) and sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment.

The indictment was based on the evidence gathered by SBU investigators.

It was established that a Russian tanker of the 35th Independent Guard Motorized Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces crossed the Ukrainian state border from the direction of Belarus on 24 February with his military unit. In the direction of Chernihivschyna, his tank was shelling settlements.

In particular, it was recorded that on 26 February 2022, following orders from his commander, the sergeant fired at an 11-story residential building in the regional center, which is not a military unit, but is populated exclusively by civilians.

Several apartments were destroyed as a result of a direct hit by a 125-mm high-explosive tank shell.

Not long after this "shot", ZSU soldiers destroyed the enemy tank, and its crew was captured.

Now Sergeant Mikhail Kulikov will face a fair punishment.
